CC Dubs aka Crystal Clear

The result was the anthemic “Sister” released on Ram’s sister label Frequency and the critically acclaimed “Heaven & Hell”, part of the Dimensions EP.

Around this time Crystal came to the attention of drum and bass legend and Playaz aficionado DJ Hype. Seeing an artist with a good attitude and range as a producer, flipping from jump up bangers to smooth, liquid rollers he soon snapped Mr Clear up to join the Playaz camp and his debut “2Tone Sound” was released soon after.

Now an integral part of the Playaz roster and under the guidance of DJ Hype himself, Crystal Clear has gone from strength to strength, working to forge a “solid sound” that’s earning respect from the highest quarters.

On Crystal Clear’s production, benchmark producer Dillinja told us “I’m hearing good things from him, he’s definitely got his ears open!”

With club smashers “Cold Blooded” and “Streethawk” having sold out in a week, his much anticipated “175 Remix” having destroyed dancefloors nationwide and “Itzalot” receiving national airplay from the likes of Annie Mac, Grooverider & Mistajam, things are flying for Crystal Clear.

Known for consistently coming up with the remix goods Crystal Clear has undertaken such classics as “Only 1Life” by Ganja Kru, “Heavy Metal” by Twisted Individual and “Maximum Style” by Tom & Jerry. In addition to this his remix of Zen’s “Full Effect” was chosen as Grooverider’s rewind track on Radio 1…need we say more?!

Not just a producer, Crystal Clear is a DJ resident at Playaz @ Fabric and adept at working a crowd having graced the decks of clubs across the world.

Feeling that the time was right to launch his own imprint, Summer 09 saw the launch of Cold Blooded Recordings. This culminated in the debut release Bangers N Mash, championed by the likes of DJ Hype, Bassline Smith and Brockie.

Crystal Clear & Zen…

Crystal Clear and Zen have a long history having met initially in 1997 at the studios of South London pirate station Shadow FM…

It wasn’t until 2009 however that they finally got in the studio together to work on some beats. By this time both Crystal Clear and Zen had thoroughly cut their teeth production wise so the results were guaranteed not to disappoint.

Their first effort “The Man With No Name” formed part of Crystal Clear’s EP “Strength in Numbers” on Frontline and was played by…well… just about everyone.

They’ve since gone on to find their production sweet spot making such smashers as “Settle Down” and “Heavy” as well as the huge Cold Blooded bangers “Gang Related” and “City Lights

Zen has achieved individual acclaim with a succession of massive tunes on  Grid Recordings as well as his own Flip Audio imprint.
